Your question prompted me to check into whether this was ever
formally announced and guess what? It wasn't.

Thanks for pointing this out. Others may have wondered.

I have edited the title and text of the announcement dealing with SPAM.

Forums are GREAT places for getting links which help Search Engine
Results for websites as well as direct solicitations of members. Normally
forums employ crews to moderate and deal with complaints and issues
arising from abuse.

I have simply placed a ban on external links and disabled the Private
Messaging system (PM).

I still have to go and delete links and SPAM posts and ban users but
it is quick and painless and I am the judge jury and executioner
because this is clearly posted as a no-no.

PM system abuse is more complex and I will not be able to support
this forum and deal with that kind of problem as well. The easiest and
best way is to not have the problem.

I know there are legitimate uses for PM systems and so I apologize
to anyone that would find a use for it that this feature must be
disabled. It is the only way that I could have operated this forum.

Thanks Tom. That makes sense to me. Thanks for the forum. The first word of my original post should have been 'Am', but I couldn't edit after 120 minutes.

There was a PM button on this board? If so, I never noticed it before.
